Dr. Jose Saenz is developing a method to more accurately diagnose patients in Uganda with the most common human pathogen, affecting nearly half of the world’s population. The bacteria, known as helicobacter pylori, can cause gastro-intestinal infections resulting in abdominal pain but lead to cancer as well. Dr. Saenz is an instructor of medicine in the School of Medicine.
