WashU Participates at West Africa Student Recruitment Fair

In collaboration with the EducationUSA, the Africa Initiative, led by Dr. Benjamin Akande, participated in the West Africa student recruitment fair which took place in Abuja, Lagos (Nigeria), Accra (Ghana), and Abidjan (Ivory Coast) in October 2019. Washington University joined 39 other American colleges/universities invited by the US Embassy to this annual program. Over 2,500 prospective graduate and undergraduate students participated over the five-day period. Dr. Akande was joined on the trip by Ruthie Pyle, Assistant Dean and Director of Admission, Recruitment and Financial Services  representing Olin Business School MBA program. The team identified a total of over 75 top student prospects, with specific interests in business, accounting, banking and finance, aerospace engineering, architecture, biochemical and chemical engineering and computer science, among others. The Africa Initiative has corresponded with each and every student and follow-up from the appropriate schools/departments is underway.
